Magali obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree with Special Distinction (4.0 GPA) majoring in Political Science and Sociology in 1992. In 1995, she obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) from the University of the West Indies where she shared in the prize for the most outstanding first year student. In 1997, she obtained the Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica and was awarded the Belize Bar Association Prize for most outstanding Belizean student (1997). She was elevated to the rank of Senior Counsel in January, 2014.
Magali has amassed vast experience in litigation both as lead counsel and co-counsel, including complex local and international receivership and liquidation litigation, landmark constitutional, and public law cases (including human rights and environmental law challenges), real estate litigation, divorce and matrimonial property law cases, and fraud and insurance cases. Magali has argued cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and the Caribbean Court of Justice (Belize's final appellate court) in Trinidad. She has developed a reputation for competence, tenacity, and integrity.
From November 16, 2020 to June 30, 2023, she was appointed and served the country of Belize as the Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs of Belize, where she was able to accomplish major judicial and legislative reforms within the short period during her appointment. Magali is now back in private practice.
